 1. Janamejaya said :-- O Muni! You told before that the heavenly prostitutes sent by Indra in the hermitage of Nara Nârâyana became lustful and desired to live with Nârâyana only, whose heart was calm and quiet.

 

2. At that moment when Nârâyana was about to curse them, his brother Nara desisted him from taking that step.

 

3-4. Now I ask you what did that triumphant Nârâyana Muni do, in the critical juncture, when he was repeatedly asked by those prostitutes, sent by lndra, to satisfy their lust?

 

5. O Grand Sire! I am very eager to know the deeds of Nârâyana, leading to one’s freedom. Kindly describe in detail and fulfill my wishes.

 

6. Vyâsa said :-- Hear, O king! I am describing to you in detail, what that high souled son of Dharma did.

 

7. When Nârâyana Hari was ready to curse them, the Risi Nara, seeing this, consoled him and desisted him.

 

8. Then the great sage, the ascetic son of Dharma, Nârâyana, leaving aside his anger, began to address them in sweet words with countenance smiling.

 

9-10. O Fair women! We have determined to practise asceticism in this life; it does not therefore behove us to accept any wife; therefore shew your kindness unto us and go back to your Heaven. You would better think that those who know what is religion, they never desire to break the vow of another.

 

11. O beautiful eyed ones! In the sexual pleasure, it is the delightful feeling of passionate joy that is requisite; and we are wanting in those feelings; then how can we effect that union?

 

12. No action can come out of no cause; this is all clear. The poets say that the sexual power and pleasure, is the feeling, the mental attitude that corresponds; and that is the only thing, that lasts. And we have no desire for that.

 

13. However my limbs are all very graceful, I am very fortunate and blessed in this world, otherwise how can I be the object of your sincere love towards me.

 

14. You all are very fortunate; therefore do now show this mercy unto me “do not break my vow.” I pray now that, in a subsequent birth, I may become your husband.

 

15-16. O large eyed fair women! In the twenty-eighth Dvâpara Yuga, I will certainly incarnate on earth to effect the purpose of the Devas; then you all also would respectively incarnate as the daughters of kings and would also become my wives.

 

17. Nârâyana thus consented to marry them in some other next birth; and consoling them, made them go back to their Heavens. They also abandoned their mental disquietude and, on reaching back to Heavens, they explained everything to Indra.

Gadâdhara

 51-52. Then Gadâdhara with yellow robes and four hands quickly came there and called Prahlâda. The son of Hiranya Kas'ipoo, Prahlâda, seeing the Lord of Laksmi, four armed, Nârâyana with lotus and disc in His hands come there, bowed low, and, with folded hands, began to speak to him with great devotion.

 

53-54. O Deva of the Devas! You are the Lord of the universe and devoted to your devotees. O Mâdhava! I have fought for full one hundred Deva years; still I have not not been able to defeat these ascetics. I do not know why. I am surprised at it.

 

55-56. Visnu said :-- O Forgiving One! These two Risis Nara Nârâyana are, the perfect ascetics, self controlled and born of my Amsas. Therefore you have not been able to defeat them. What wonder is there! O king! Better go now to your Pâtâla and keep your steadfast devotion on me. O Intelligent one! Do not quarrel any more with these two ascetics.

 

57. Vyâsa said :-- O king! The Daitya king Prahlâda then advised by Visnu went out of that place with his Asura followers; and the two Nara Nârâyanas began again to practise their Tapasyâs.

 21-22. Vyâsa said :-- Thus saying, the Daitya took up his bow and quickly stretched it with arrow and the bow string made a terrible noise. Then Nara, too, too up with anger his bows and began to shoot arrows at Prahlâda lots of sharpened arrows and weapons.

 

23. The lord of the Daityas quickly selected the arrows, glittering like gold, and with them tore asunder the arrows thrown by Nara. Nara, seeing his arrows, cut asunder, became infuriated with anger and began to hurl as quickly lots of other arrows.

 

24. Prahlâda then cut asunder with arrows, of quick velocity, the Nara's weapons and struck violently on the breast of Nara. Nara, too, with anger pierced the arms of Prahlâda with five quick arrows.

 

25. Indra and the other Devas came on their respective aeroplanes to see their fight and began to give cheers sometimes to Nara and sometime to Prahlâda from above the skies.

Sharanga Pinaka

1. Vyâsa said :-- After performing duly his religious rites there, the son of Hiranya Kas'ipu saw before him an unbrageous peepul tree.  

2-3. There he saw along with the feathers of vultures, the terrible, sharpened under a stone, various glittering arrows, arrayed in due order; and he was surprised to think who could have kept such arrows, well guarded in this very holy hermitage of the Risis.  

4-5. While Prahlâda was thus meditating in his mind, he saw before him, wearing the skin of a black antelope, the two sons of Dharma, the two Munis Nara Nârâyana, loaded on their heads with high clots of hairs. Before them were placed the two white bows named S'ârngam and Âjagavam, (Pinâka) the bows of Visnu and S'iva respectively, bearing their qualified marks, as well as their two inexhaustible big quivers.

Chyavana

Bhrgu had a greatly beloved wife, Puloma, in whom he conceived a son endowed with Bhrgu's own potency. The child grew normally in the womb of Puloma, who was very respectable and religious wife and who always treated others fairly. Once Bhrgu, great among the upholders of virtue, left her at home and went out to perform a royal consecration. While he was away, a demoniac Raksasa also named Puloma came to his ashrama. When he entered the ashrama and behold the faultless wife of Bhrgu, the Raksasa was overwhelmed by lust and lost his mind.

Upon seeing the Raksasa arrive, the lovely Puloma welcomed him with typical forest fare like fruits and roots and other such eatables. But simply by looking at her, the Raksasa Puloma was excited and his heart was fully tormented by lust. O brahmana, he yearned to kidnap that faultless woman.

Noticing the sacrificial fire ablaze on the sacred ground, the demon asked the blazing fire, "Tell me, Agni, whose wife is this? I ask you on your honor, O Fire, for you are the emblem of truth. Speak the truth to one who so inquires. I believe this lady of lovely complexion to be the very woman I once chose as my wife. But her father gave her away to Bhrgu, who improperly accepted her. If this shapely woman, who stands alone here, is indeed Bhrgu's wife, then you must declare it openly, for I wish to steal her from this ashrama. My heart has always burned with rage because Bhrgu took that lovely-waisted woman who was first meant to be my wife."

The Raksasa was not sure if the woman was actually Bhrgu's wife, and so again and again he entreated the blazing sacrificial fire, asking him the same question. "O Agni, you ever exist within all creatures as a witness to their piety and sin. O wise one, speak words of truth. Bhrgu falsely took away my intended wife, and if this is that same woman, then tell me so. You must declare the truth. As soon as I hear from you that she is truly Bhrgu's wife, I shall take her from this ashrama before your very eyes, my dear sacred Fire. Now speak the truth!"

Afraid to speak a lie, and fearing too of Bhrgu's curse, Fire began to speak, slowly and carefully, revealing the identity of Bhrgu's wife.[Although the demoniac Raksasa insisted that Agni speak the truth, he himself cared nothing for Vedic principles and considered his own selfish will to be the highest law.]

Suta Goswami said: Upon hearing Agni's statement the demon assumed the form of a huge boar and seized Bhrgu's wife with the speed of the mind and the strength of the wind. But as soon as he grabbed Puloma, the child rolled furiously out of her womb and thus became known as Cyavana, "the one who came forth." Simply seeing this powerful child rush forth from his mother's womb, the Raksasa burst into flames. Releasing Bhrgu's wife, he fell to the ground and burned to ashes.

Shocked and aggrieved by this incident, the shapely Puloma quickly picked up Bhrgu's beloved child and ran. Lord Brahma himself, the grandfather of all the worlds, witnessed Bhrgu's faultless wife crying out, her eyes filled with tears, and he began to comfort that chaste young lady, whose teardrops, as they issued forth, formed a great river that followed her path.

Thus Cyavana, the powerful son of Bhrgu, was born. Upon seeing his son Cyavana and his furious wife, Bhrgu too became angry and asked his faithful Puloma, "When that Raksasa decided to steal you, who told him your name? O sweet-smiling one, the demon surely did not know that you were my wife. Tell me the truth. Who revealed your identity? My anger is such that I wish to curse him this very moment! Who is that person who does not fear my curse? Who committed this offense?"

Puloma said: My lord, it was Agni who surrendered me to the Raksasa. As I cried out like a kurari bird, the Raksasa led me away. I was saved only by this son of yours. By his power, the demon let go of me as he burned to ashes and fell dead on the earth.

Suta Goswami said: Hearing this from Puloma, a terrible wrath took hold of Bhrgu Muni, and he cursed Agni, the god of fire, declaring, "You, Fire, shall eat all things”. Cursed by Bhrgu, Agni too grew angry, and spoke these words: "Brahmana! Why have you committed such a reckless act against me, when I strove to follow the law and spoke the truth impartially? When questioned, I spoke the facts. What, then, is my crime? A witness who knowingly speaks lies when questioned ruins seven generations of his family, past and future. And one who knows the truth in a matter of duty, and even knowing does not speak, is tainted by that very sin (of duplicity) without a doubt. "I also have the power to curse you, but I am bound to honor brahmanas. Although you already know it, I shall clearly explain the situation. Please listen carefully, "By my mystic potency I divide myself into many flames, and thus I am present in various forms of religious sacrifices, such as the Agni-hotra, Satra, Makha, and in other rituals and ceremonies. Thus even the demigods and forefathers are satisfied by offerings of clarified butter consumed within my flames, following the Vedic rites.

"All the hosts of demigods and forefathers are venerable authorities in this world. Thus religious offerings on the new moon and full moon days are meant for both the gods and the forefathers, for they are generally worshiped as one, but are worshiped separately on the moon days. And even the demigods and forefathers always make offerings through me, hence I am considered to be the mouth of the thirty principle demigods and the forefathers. '"The forefathers are offered sacrifice on the new moon day, and the demigods on the full moon day, and through my mouth they consume offerings of clarified butter. How, then, can my mouth eat all things, clean and unclean?"

Reflecting on the matter, Agni withdrew himself from all the obligatory religious sacrifices and rituals, including the Agni-hotra. There was thus no chanting of the sacred Om, Vasat, Svadha, and Svahaa transcendental sound or Vedic hymn. And thus without Agni all creatures became very aggrieved. The sages, who grew very disturbed, then went to the demigods and spoke: "Now that fire is lost, religious processes have collapsed, and thus the three worlds, blameless in this matter, are faffing to ruin. Do what needs to be done while we still have time." The sages and gods then approached Lord Brahma and delivered the news of the curse on Agni and his withdrawal from religious ceremonies. "O exalted one," they said, "Bhrgu has cursed Agni without reason. How can Agni, the mouth of the demigods, be cursed to eat all things? It is Agni who eats the first portion of that which the whole world offers in sacrifice."

Hearing their speech, Brahma, the creator, called Agni and spoke to him these gentle and immortal words, meant for the welfare of the world: "You are the fountain of all planets and You are their end. You sustain the three worlds and set the sacred rites in motion. O lord of the world, please act so that religious ceremonies are not cut off. Being a universal controller and the consumer of sacrificial offerings, why should you now be so confused? You represent purity in this world, and you pervade all creatures. You shall not eat all things with all your bodies. In your manifestation as a gross material ingredient, O blazing lord, your flames will burn all things. But as the sun purifies all things by the touch of its rays, similarly all that you burn by your flames shall become pure.

"O Fire of awesome potency, with that same potency, please make the sage's curse come true, O mighty one. Accept and consume the demigods' portion and your own when properly offered through your mouth in sacrifice."

"So be it!" replied Agni to the grandsire, and he departed to execute the instruction of the supreme demigod.

The gods and sages happily departed, and all the sages began to perform the essential religious processes, just as they had before. The gods in heaven and all the earthly communities rejoiced. And Agni, his impurity cleansed, experienced the greatest happiness. Such is the very ancient history that arose from the cursing of Agni, the destruction of the demon Puloma, and the birth of the sage Cyavana. It is said that pleased with Agni dev 's (Fire God's) penance, Lord Vishnu had granted him a boon to permanently reside in the form of this kund here and burn away the sins of all His devotees.

Karna

Karna was a demon by name Dambhodbhav in his previous birth who did penance to Sun for many years. Pleased with his penace Sun appeared before him and asked him to partake a boon.

Dambodbhav asked for immortality. Sun said no one can become immortal as all those who have taken birth should die , this the law of the nature set by NARAYANA , thus he can ask for something else .
Dambodbhav asked something that would be akin to immortality. HE asked ” Oh Lord Sun kindly give me a 1000 KAvach – Kundal that should not break for atleast 1000 years and one who breaks it should die immediately . Sun grants him the boon” His Name Became SHAHASHTRAKAWACH, HAVING 1000 TIMES MORE PROTECTIVE DEVICE ( kawach ) than any one.

Dambodbhav smitten with pride created havoc in the world and none could kill Dambodbhav and none dared to fight as that would mean definite death . SO when the world was besieged with the cruelty of Dambodbhav , sages and devatas went to Lord NArayana asked for the relief .

Lord Narayana took the form of two sages along with NARA . NARA-NARAYANA . The sages confronted the Demon , Narayana sat in meditation tapasya, for a 1000 years with mrit sanjeevani vidya , while nara would fight with Dambhodbhav , after 1000 years Nara would break the kavach and die , NArayana would bring him back to life and continue the fight , nara would complete the tapasya for 1000 years as Narayana fought the battle and break another kavach , thus each would alternatively fight and practise tapasya and cut the kavach .

This continued for 999 times in 1000000 years . The fight went on for 1000000 years . and when the last Kavach was left , Then Pralaya occurred ,Dambhodbhav fled the battle field and hid behind SUN in surya mandal , Sun gave him shelter .

Nara Narayana demanded the demon to be handed over but Sun pleaded on behalf of him . Thus Nara cursed Sun to be born along with the demon and be killed .For having given shelter to Demon and going against NArayana , Sun took the birth as KARNA along with suryavarman demon [ Dambhodbhav] . This time he was born with the 1000th kavach kundal naturally by the grace oF previous boon by SUN .

Nara and NARAYANA were born again as Arjun and Krishna .This kavach whoever breaks it would die and hence , had to be begged back by Indra . As demon would not give it Karna had SUN also born in this birth as Amsa . With the quality of giving dana readily , SUN gave back the KAVACH he had been tricked to offer by DAMBHODBHAV , and created havoc in the world . Thus Indra tricked Dambhodbhav and Sun rectified his mistake .

Goloka

 1 Sri Narada said: Asked by whom, and for what reason did Lord Krsna, the master of the universes, come to the earth? O best of the knowers of the Vedas, please tell.


2 Sri Narayana Rsi said: In ancient times, during the Varaha-kalpa, bearing a great burden and filled with grief, the earth took shelter of the demigod Brahma.


3 Accompanied by hosts of demigods, who were all unhappy at heart to be so troubled by the demons, she went to the assembly of Brahma, which is very difficult to attain.


4 There she saw Brahma, the king of the demigods, who shone with spiritual power, who was cheerfully served by the kings of the rsis, munis and siddhas…


5 …who happily smiled as he glanced at the Apsaras dancing and listened to the Gandarvas beautiful singing,…


6 …and who chanted the two most sacred syllables Krs-na, the hairs of his body erect and his eyes filled with tears of the ecstasy of devotion.


7 O sage, accompanied by the demigods, the earth goddess then devotedly offered here respectful obeisances to four-faced Brahma and told him how she was burdened by the demons.


8 The hairs of her body erect and her eyes filled with tears, she offered prayers and wept. Brahma, the creator of the universe said to her: Why do you offer prayers and weep?


9 O beautiful one, why have you come? Please tell. It will be auspicious. Be steady. O beautiful one, why are you afraid of me?


10 Brahma comforted the earth-goddess and then respectfully asked the demigods, why have you come to me?


11 Hearing Brahma’s words, the demigods said to Prajapati Brahma: O Lord, the earth is overcome by the demons and we also are in the demons’ grip.


12 You are the creator of the worlds. Please stop (the demons). O Brahma, the earth has taken shelter of you. You should stop (the demons).


13 O grandfather, the earth is now tormented by the burden (of many demons). We are also tortured by them. Please remove the burden (they have brought).


14 After hearing the demigods’ words, Brahma, the creator of the worlds said to the earth-goddess: Child, throw your fears far away. Stand happily before me.


15 O Lotus-eyed one, who has brought this burden you cannot bear? O beautiful one, I will take away your burden. Things will be auspicious for you. That is certain.


16 When she heard these words, even though she was anxious and unhappy, she made her eyes and face cheerful and she anxiously spoke to him.


17 The earth goddess said: Father, please listen and I will tell the suffering in my heart. I cannot tell this to any but a faithful friend.


18 A weak woman should always be protected by her father, husband, sons and other relatives.


19 O father of the worlds, you created me. I am not shy to tell you. Listen, and I will tell you who has brought the burden that crushes me.


20 I cannot bear the burden of carrying great sinners that have no devotion to Lord Krsna and that blaspheme the devotees.


21 I am crushed by carrying the burden of they who do not perform their religious duties, who never do what they should, and who have no faith in the Vedas.


22 I cannot carry the burden of they who do not maintain their father, mother, guru, wife, sons and grandsons.


23 I am crushed by the burden of carrying they who speak lies, who have neither mercy nor truth, and who insult their spiritual masters.


24 I am crushed by the burden of carrying they who become enemies to their friends, who are ungrateful, who bear false witness, who are faithless, and who rob what is given them to protect.


25 I am crushed by the burden of carrying they who sell the auspicious Vedic prayers and hymns and the most auspicious name of Lord Hari.


26 I am crushed by carrying the burden of murderers, they who become enemies of their spiritual master, brahmanas who misuse the Vedic rituals, they who hunt animals, they who have transformed their body into a crematorium for burning the flesh of dead animals, and brahmanas who eat what sudras offer them.


27 I am crushed by the burden of carrying the fools who hinder the performance of worship, yajna, fasting, vows and sense-control.


28 I am crushed by carrying the burden of sinners who hate the cows, brahmanas, demigods, Vaisnavas, Lord Hari and devotion to hearing the glories of Lord Hari.


29 O Brahma, these demons crush me even more than Sankhacuda crushed me in the past.


30 I, who have no shelter, have told you everything. Please give me shelter. O Lord, please solve my problem.


31 After speaking these words the earth-goddess wept again and again. Seeing her weep, Brahma, who was an ocean of kindness said to her: I will remove the burden of these demons.


32 O earth, the remedy will come. In due course of time my master will remove your burden.


33-39 O beautiful one, the foolish demons that now place on you yantras, mangala-kumbhas, Siva-lingas, kunkuma, honey, sticks, sandal paste, musk, the dust of holy places, swords, gandaka swords, crystal, padmaraga jewels, sapphires, suryakanta jewels, rudraksa beads, kusa grass, Salagrama-silas, conchshells, tulasi, Deities, water, lamps, stone Deities, bells, offerings of flowers and food, emeralds, knotted sacred threads, mirrors, white camaras, gorocana, pearls, oyster shells, manikya jewels, the Puranas, fire, camphor, axes, silver, gold, red coral, jewels, kusa-brahmanas, water from holy places, milk, cow urine, and cow dung, will burn on the rope of time for ten thousand years.


40 In this way Brahma comforted the earth-goddess. Then, accompanied by her and the demigods, Brahma, the creator of the worlds, went to Lord Siva’s abode, Mount Kailasa.


41 Coming to that beautiful asrama, Brahma saw, staying under an eternal banyan tree by the shore of a river, Lord Siva…


42 …who wore a tigerskin garment, who was decorated with the bones of Daksa’s daughter, who held a spear and trident, who had three eyes on each of his five faces,…


43 …who was surrounded by siddhas and served by the kings of yoga, who happily smiled as he glanced at the dancing of the apsaras,…


44 …who listened to the tumultuous music of the Gandharvas, who affectionately glanced at Parvati with crooked eyes,…


45 …and who, the hairs of his body erect in ecstasy, with his five mouths chanted Lord Hari’s auspicious holy name on bead made from lotus seeds in the heavenly Ganga.


46 In that place Brahma, the earth-goddess and the bowing demigods stood before Lord Siva.


47 Lord Siva stood up and for a long time gazed at Brahma, the master of the universe. Lord Siva affectionately bowed his head and accepted Brahma’s blessing.


48 The demigods bowed down before Lord Siva and the earth goddess also bowed down with devotion. Lord Siva gave them his blessing.


49 Brahma told the news to Lord Siva, the husband of Parvati. Lord Siva, who is kind to the devotees, at once bowed his head when he heard it.


50 When, hearing of the devotees’ sufferings, Siva and Parvati became unhappy, Brahma comforted them.


51 Carefully reassuring them, Brahma and Siva then sent the earth-goddess and the demigods to their homes.


52 Then Brahma and Siva at once went to Yamaraja’s palace. After some thought, all three went to Lord Hari’s abode,…


53 …the supreme realm of Vaikuntha, where old-age and death do not exist, which is situated in the spiritual sky above the material universes,…


54 …which is ten million yojanas above Brahmaloka, which is eternal, which poets and philosophers cannot describe, which is wonderful, and which is made of jewels.

55 Travelling at the speed of mind, they went to that beautiful place, where the royal paths are paved with rubies and sapphires. Entering Lord Hari’s palace, the three demigods saw Lord Hari,…


56 …who sat on a jewel throne, was decorated with jewel ornaments, and was splendid with jewel bracelets, armlets, and anklets,…


57 …whose cheeks were splendid with jewel earrings, who wore yellow garments, who was decorated with a forest garland,…


58 …who was peaceful, who was dear to Sarasvati, whose lotus feet were massaged by Laksmi, who was playful as millions of Kamadevas, who smiled, who had four arms,…


59 …who was served by His associates Sunanda, Nanda, and Kumuda, whose entire body was anointed with sandal paste, and who was splendid with a beautiful jewel crown.


60 To Lord Hari, whose form was full of transcendental bliss, and who was overcome with kindness to the devotees, the three demigods headed by Brahma bowed down, O sage, with devotion.


61 Overcome with transcendental bliss, the hairs of the bodies erect, and their necks bowed with devotion, they offered prayers with great devotion.


62 Sri Brahma said: I offer my respectful obeisances to the infallible and peaceful Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the beloved of Laksmi and the master of all. We demigods are parts of the parts of the parts of the parts of the parts of Him.


63 O Lord untouched by matter, the Manus, the kings of sages, the human beings, and the moving and unmoving entities are parts of the parts of the parts of the parts of You.


64-65 Sri Siva said: Who has the power to properly glorify You, the immortal and imperishable Supreme Personality of Godhead, who are the supreme controller and enjoyer, beginningless, the beginning of all, whose form is filled with bliss, whose form contains everything, who is the origin of the mystic perfections beginning with anima, who is the cause of all, whose knowledge is perfect, who grants perfection, and who is the form of perfection?


66 Sri Yamaraja said: Who has the power to describe that being whom the wise say is the topic of the Vedas, but whom the Vedas fail to describe?


67 The (material mind) can understand forms created by the modes of material nature, but You are not touched by the modes of nature. How can I offer prayers to You?


68 O great sage, a person who reads these prayers of the demigods headed by Brahma, prayers spoken in eloquent verse, become free from difficulties and attains his desire.


69 After hearing the demigods’ prayers, Lord Hari said to them: You go to Goloka and I will follow with goddess Laksmi.


70 Nara-Narayana, who live in Svetadvipa, will go to Goloka, and goddess Sarasvati will also go.


71 Ananta, My Maya, Karttikeya, Ganesa and Savitri, the mother of the Vedas, will also follow.


72 Here I am with Laksmi and My associates headed by Sunanda. There I am two-armed Krsna, with Radha and the gopis.


73 I am Narayana and I am Krsna. I am the Lord whom resides in Svetadvipa. All the demigods headed by Brahma are considered My partial expansions.


74 The living entities headed by the demigods, demons, and human beings are parts of the parts of the parts of the parts of Me. You go to Goloka and your goal will be accomplished (in the end).

167 Keeping it on their right, they happily went a small distance behind that asrama.


168 There they saw a billion asramas of many gopas and gopis.


169 They gazed again and again at the beautiful, beautiful ever new asramas of the gopas and gopis.


170 After thus seeing all of Goloka, the demigods returned to the beautiful circle of Vrndavana forest.


171 The demigods saw the mountain of a hundred peaks and went past it to the Viraja river. When they went past the Viraja river they saw nothing more.


172-3 Thus the demigods gazed at auspicious, wonderful, spiritual Goloka, which had a thousand lakes, which was made of jewels, and which, by the will of Lord Krsna and the wisdom of Sri Radha, was situated in the spiritual sky. The demigods then gazed at the beautiful dancing they saw there.


174 Then. O sage, as they heard beautiful, beautifully rhythmic, nectar songs there about the glories of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna, the demigods fainted.


175 Regaining consciousness in a moment, and their thoughts now fixed on Lord Krsna, the demigods gazed at the many beauties and wonders there in place after place.


176 They saw all the beautiful gopis dressed in many different kinds of garments, some with mrdangas in their hands, some with vinas in their hands,…


177 …some with camaras in their hands, some with karatalas in their hands, some with various musical instruments in their hands, some making their jewel anklets tinkle melodiously,…


178 …some making a whole network of jewel ornaments tinkle, some spontaneously dancing as they carried jugs on their heads,…

181 O Narada, going a little further, they saw the asramas of Radha’s friends, and then the homes of Her dearest friends,…
